We’re proud to share that United Zion Retirement Community has received three national honors in the 2026 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards for our innovative use of technology to improve resident safety and quality of care.

McKnight’s is a leading national media organization serving the senior living and long-term care industries. Its annual Excellence in Technology Awards recognize organizations and technology partners using innovative solutions to improve resident care, safety, operations and quality of life. Winners were selected by an independent panel of 24 long-term care stakeholders.
Using Technology to Support Proactive Care
The recognition follows significant results in our Heritage Hill Personal Care neighborhood after implementing Helpany’s AI- and radar-powered technology. United Zion was the first senior living community in Pennsylvania to implement the technology.
Helpany’s system helps our care team recognize changes in residents’ mobility and daily patterns that may indicate an increased risk for a fall or a change in care needs. Importantly, the technology does this without the use of cameras or microphones, helping us maintain the privacy and dignity of our residents.
During the first four months of 2026, United Zion experienced an approximately 70% reduction in falls compared with our 2025 baseline. In March, falls were reduced by more than 80%, and in April, Heritage Hill reached an incredible milestone: zero resident falls.
Insights provided by the technology also contributed to the realignment of approximately one in three resident care plans, helping our team identify changes and respond proactively to residents’ evolving needs.

To now have that work recognized nationally by McKnight’s in three award categories is an incredible honor and something our entire team can be proud of.”
Technology Supporting the People Who Provide Care
While we’re proud of the technology and the national recognition, the heart of this accomplishment is our team. Technology provides additional information and insight, but it is our caregivers who use that information to make decisions, adjust care and provide the personal attention our residents deserve.
These three McKnight’s awards are an exciting recognition of that work and our continued commitment to finding new ways to enhance safety, independence and quality of life for those we serve.
