United Zion Retirement Community is celebrating the opening of its latest expansion. The not-for-profit continuing care retirement community has not only added 10 new independent living apartments but, also, enlarged its healthcare center for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

The 10 new apartment units are almost entirely sold and the new residents started to move in last week. These units boast of beautiful hilltop views or private entries with patios, in-unit washer and dryers, open floor plans and housekeeping services.

The brand new healthcare center wing includes twelve private rooms for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care in a state-of-the-art skilled nursing area. These spacious rooms have European-styled bathrooms with beautiful barn doors, individual temperature controls and lots of natural light. “I just love these new European-style bathrooms,” exclaimed Sue Verdegem, CEO of United Zion, “the openness allows space to easily move about.” These new rooms are slated for occupancy on October 1.

The healthcare center expansion also includes two new kitchens, dining spaces and living areas as United Zion transitions to the neighborhood model. Each neighborhood of approximately 15 rooms will feature an eat-in kitchen and separate living space. These kitchens allow for residents and team members to work together to create special dishes as well as keep meal times intimate. The new living areas offer a great space for residents to enjoy small group activities from crafting to Wii Bowling. “Our community is thrilled for these new neighborhoods because it allows for small group interactions and enhances the current family atmosphere of United Zion,” Verdegem enthusiastically states, “These new spaces align with United Zion’s commitment to personalized care for every resident.”
