We are looking for an outgoing, team-orientated individual who is passionate and dedicated to providing excellent service for team members. The Director of Human Resources needs to identify and solve hiring and retention challenges and define and implement other HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Annually reviews and makes recommendations for improvement of the organization’s policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters including wages and the employee handbook, and communicates those changes.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation, and ensures organization’s compliance with federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to personnel matters.
  • Communicates changes in personnel policies and/or compensation, and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
  • Works directly with department managers and directors to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters and supports them when mediating employee challenges.
  • Supervises the staff of the Human Resources department and ensures the following HR functions are completed:
    • Recruitment including: assisting with job descriptions, handling recruitment advertising, posting job openings, tracking incoming applicants, interviewing, hiring, checking references and right to work, and handling team member orientation.
    • Personnel including: maintaining appropriate and accurate files on team members; handling and maintaining payroll processing; overseeing time off; dealing with workers’ compensation claims; reviewing unemployment compensation claims; assisting with directors with discipline policy and discharges; managing company team member surveys; fostering an environment that encourages professional growth and teamwork; and planning and implementing team member special events, programs and recognition.
    • Benefit management including: communicating and meeting with team members on benefits and benefit renewal details; handling compensation administration; assisting with benefit renewal process; and serving as the main contact for benefit companies.
    • General department management including: assuring bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly tax filings are submitted; and reporting on company personnel statistics;

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR or related field required.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or PHR required or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel proficiency required.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest of confidentiality and respect for professional boundaries.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, strong verbal communication skills, energetic with a creative problem solving approach, ability to work independently or alongside a team, can meet challenges with a positive attitude, ability to multitask and maintain accuracy and integrity of output as well as have excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources functions, employment law including FMLA and FLSA regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a code of confidentiality in all personnel matters and team member relations.
